Tucumcari, NM - Crash Between 2 Semis Shuts Down Part Of I-40
August 27, 2019
Tucumcari, NM (August 26, 2019) - A collision between two 18 wheelers took place on Sunday, August 25th. The accident resulted in the total shutdown of all eastbound lanes of Interstate 40.
New Mexico State Police, emergency responders, and at least one medical relief helicopter were on the scene of the accident in Tucumcari along Interstate 40.
No official reports have been released at this time as crash investigators are still on the scene, but video footage seems to suggest that one truck rear-ended another. This resulted in one truck crossing over the median and the second one tipping over on its side. A substantial amount of the payload from both rigs was all over the highway as well.
No information on the condition of either driver has been given.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
